{"id":303,"date":"2017-02-27T16:10:33","date_gmt":"2017-02-27T13:10:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chatra.io\/blog\/?p=303"},"modified":"2020-11-25T22:05:50","modified_gmt":"2020-11-25T19:05:50","slug":"setting-up-the-automatic-triggers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chatra.com\/blog\/setting-up-the-automatic-triggers\/","title":{"rendered":"Setting up the automatic triggers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this post, we\u2019ll explain all the settings of automatic triggers and will show some examples of usage, apart from <a href=\"https:\/\/chatra.io\/help\/#auto-actions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the standard ones<\/a> that we suggest.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>WHEN section:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Any agent is available to chat<\/strong> &#8211; the trigger will work when you are online<\/li>\n<li><strong>All agents are offline<\/strong> &#8211; the trigger will work when all agents are offline or invisible. In this case, it&#8217;s better to indicate that the visitor should not expect an immediate response.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Agents are either online or offline<\/strong> &#8211; the trigger will work regardless of your status<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>IF section:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Everything here matches<\/strong> &#8211; the trigger will work only when all conditions listed below are met on the current page. Make sure you don&#8217;t add contradicting conditions (for example, links to different pages)<\/li>\n<li><strong>One of conditions below matches &#8211;<\/strong> the trigger will work when one of the conditions listed below is met on the current page. It may be the page URL or time spent on the current page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Conditions that triggers can be connected to:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Current URL<\/strong>. When you choose &#8220;is&#8221;, the link should be full, it&#8217;s better to copy it from the address bar of your browser. For example: https:\/\/chatra.io\/help\/. When you choose &#8220;contains&#8221;, you can enter part of the link (simply &#8220;help&#8221; will be enough). In this case, the trigger will work on all pages that contain the part of the link you&#8217;ve entered. For example, the trigger can go off on this page: https:\/\/chatra.io\/help\/analytics\/<\/li>\n<li><strong>Time spent on current page<\/strong>. The countdown will start as soon as the page loads.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visitor&#8217;s location<\/strong>. Allows you to target visitors from certain countries or states (currently the US states only).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visitor&#8217;s device type<\/strong>. Currently, there are 2 options &#8220;Laptop or desktop&#8221; and &#8220;Smartphone or tablet&#8221;. For example, you can use this condition to send longer messages for desktop visitors and shorter messages for mobile visitors.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Previous page URL<\/strong>. Here you can put the link to a page of your website. The way of entering links is the same as for the Current URL condition.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Referrer URL<\/strong>. Here you can put the address of a different website where a person clicked a link that sent them to your page. For example, google.com. The way of entering links is the same as for the Current URL condition.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Number of visits to site<\/strong>. Numbers are not inclusive. For the first visit, put &#8220;is less than 2&#8221;, for the second visit &#8211; &#8220;is more than 1&#8221;, etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pages viewed this visit<\/strong>. Numbers are not inclusive either. The number of pages will be counted only for the current visit (current session).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pages viewed per all visits<\/strong>. The number of pages will be counted for all visits combined.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Time spent this visit<\/strong>. The countdown will start as soon as the website loads and will be continued if visitor browsers other pages.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Time since the widget\u00a0has been closed<\/strong>. One of the conditions that can help you make proactive invitations less intrusive.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Time since the last proactive invitation<\/strong>. Another condition to make proactive invitations less intrusive. The condition is ignored if the visitor has never seen any proactive invitations before.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chat history with a visitor<\/strong>. You can show proactive invitations only to new visitors and not bother those who chatted with you in the past<\/li>\n<li><strong>Exit intent<\/strong>.\u00a0Allows you to send a message to visitors who are about to leave your website. The trigger will work when a visitor moves the cursor up to close the browser tab.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chatbox State<\/strong>. If you set it to &#8220;Opened&#8221;, the trigger will work only after a visitor opens the chat window.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>THEN section:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Once per site visit<\/strong> &#8211; the trigger will work once per site visit (per session) when all conditions are met.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Only once per unique visitor<\/strong> &#8211; when all conditions are met, the trigger will work for the visitor once and will not work next time they visit your website.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Once per page load<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; the trigger will work again and again when all conditions are met.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Actions to do when conditions are met:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Expand the chat box<\/strong> &#8211; the chat window will pop up automatically, with no automatic text.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Send a message on behalf of an agent<\/strong> &#8211; the chat window will automatically pop up and show a certain message on behalf of a random agent. If you want to send automatic messages only from agents from a certain group, select the group below.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hide the widget completely<\/strong> &#8211; the chat button will disappear on this page<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assign visitors to a group<\/strong> &#8211; chats started on this page will be automatically assigned to agents from a certain group. Check https:\/\/chatra.io\/help\/#groups for more details.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Start a chatbot scenario<\/strong> &#8211; allows you to start the chatbot scenario created in the <a href=\"https:\/\/app.chatra.io\/settings\/scripts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Automated answers<\/a> tab.
